What is Conductive Education?

Conductive Education aims to develop age appropriate skills required for daily activities such as mobility, balance and co-ordination of the whole body, dressing, eating, and handwriting skills as well as other more complex activities including balance and co-ordination of the whole body.

The Centre provides: parent and child groups (up to 3 years of age); after school clubs (5+ years); one to one learning programmes; Saturday Mobility Club; term time and holiday courses (1-4 weeks); long wekend courses; statement contributions; support and advice for parents/carers; training and consultancy for professionals. Also long weekend handwriting courses and ‘hear my voice’ communication modules.

Rainbow Centre for Conductive Education

The Rainbow Centre helps children with cerebral palsy learn how to overcome their motor difficulties by using a system known as Conductive Education. The Rainbow Centre employs Hungarian staff fully trained at the Peto Institute in Budapest, as well as English staff. The following groups run every weekday:

Parent and baby: 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Nursery: 10:00 am - 3:00 pm

Saturday Club - weekly for school age children

There is a charge for the initial assessment, and also for subsequent attendance at the Centre.

National Institute of Conductive Education

The National Institute of Conductive Education provides direct services to children and adults with motor disabilities; cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, children with dyspraxia and those who have suffered strokes and head injuries. Through a system of positive teaching, learning support, Conductive Education maximises their control over bodily movement in ways that are relevant to daily living, improving mobility, confidence and independence.
