Educational Psychology Service

The Educational Psychology Service aims to promote child development and learning through the application of psychology. The service works on behalf of children between 0 and 19 years of age.

What is an Educational Psychologist?

Educational Psychologists engage in a wide range of professional activities that include consultation, groupwork, assessment, programme planning, monitoring and evaluation, training, therapeutic intervention, work with settings (eg schools and Early Years Settings) and research.

Psychologists work with individuals and groups of children, teachers and adults in schools, families, LEA offices, health and social services and other agencies.

The service plays a key part in the identification and support for the children with Special Education Needs and has statutory duties in relation to this work. It also plays a role in school support and improvement in relation to areas that link to the psychology of learning and organisations.
