MusicSpace Hampshire
Hampshire MusicSpace is the local branch of the registered charity The MusicSpace Trust, providing music therapy to those from pre-school to old age who have a wide range of needs, including learning disabilities and autism.
Music therapy uses the natural fascination we all have for music and its appeal as a means to express ourselves emotionally. Through working with a state registered music therapist, those referred can discover how to interact and to build relationships. Over time it may be possible to work through issues which are difficult for the client, enabling them to develop feelings of self-worth and to cope better with their lives.
Music therapy is particularly valuable to those for whom access to other expressive outlets is limited due to their disability, or to those who need to develop specific inter-personal skills, or to those who have a specific emotional need. We work with individuals and with small groups and supply workshops for staff and parents to raise their awareness of this highly professional work.
